R&R

YEAH! After two tiring days, it's time for FUN! We went to Sunway Lagoon for R&R. We were practically glowing with excitement in the morning. Well, not all of us. Others were scared. Anyway, three rides were compulsory.

First ride in Sunway Lagoon: The Viking Ship (which went 360 degrees!). I wanted to vomit when I came out of the ride. Sure, it was kind of thrilling, but the safety harness was so tight and that made the ride uncomfortable. Still, I went on the ride the second time.

Second ride: The Roller Coaster. It wasn't scary at all (though some people thought it was), just... fast. Too bad it didn't go 360 degrees though. The ride would definitely be better if it did.

Third ride (not compulsory): The Water Ride (I'm not sure of its name). Ah, this ride was the BEST! When it plunged down, it would splash water onto us. I wasn't very wet though (surprisingly). However, somehow i felt that something had hit my forehead. OUCH! It hurt. There was a huge bump on it (my forehead).

Fourth ride: The Tomohawk. This ride was fun too. I loved it especially when it went upside-down. My bottom totally left the seat (but I'm not short)! I'd got to hold onto my seat to prevent me (and my forehead) from hitting something. Even worse, everyone's shoes were flying everywhere! Someone's shoe even flew out of the ride!

After going on the rides in the dry theme park, we proceeded to the wet park and was let off (meaning no compulsory rides). Some people went to the pool, others went to try the rides. I relaxed at the pool for a while then went to the tall slides. One of the slides was in the dark so I didn't know which direction I was going to turn. One moment I was going straight, then I 'jerked' to the right then left then right then it goes on and on. The other slide was in day light and didn't go side to side. The exciting part was that I didn't slide down with a float; I slided down with the type of mat that flats on the water. I, my friends and our teacher had a race: who ever who reached the bottom first would win. Being the 'heaviest' among us, our teacher came in first. Sadly, I was the second last.

Finally, it was the bowling competition. We were grouped in fours and I was grouped with Rukmini, Fatin and Xing Hui. They were great bowlers but I did badly. Believe it or not, my total score after three games was 78! I was 'crowned' the worst bowler among us. I was embarassed but who wouldn't be?

The whole day was fun though. It was like a roller coaster ride; there were ups and downs. Still, I had the greatest time of my life!

FINAL U13 ( CUP)
TK SWIFT VS SENIOR ST MARGARET : 12- 13

In the thrilling encounter during the Cross-Straits Tournament, which started yesterday, our teams, TK SWIFTS and TK THUNDERBIRDS made it into the Cup Finals(The top-tier) but lost to SENIOR ST. MARGARET’S A and SK ALAM MEGAH respectively. TK SWIFTS had a close fight with SENIOR ST. MARGARETS, and in the end, the score was 12-13.

It is not the first time TK THUNDERBIRDS are playing with SK ALAM MEGAH. The first time they played each other, the score was 8-6 in favour of us. The reason they lost in the final might have been because they were complacent after beating JUNIOR ST. MARGARET’S A, their biggest rival and underestimating the strengths of SK ALAM MEGAH. The final was a frustrating match to watch as we could see most of the junior netballers giving an under-par performance as well as some bad calls from the umpire further affected their concentration in the game. After four quarters, the score was 5-10. It was an UPSET!

TK RAVENS won their match against SK BUKIT KAPAR, with a score of 5-1, and they came in third place for the Bowl. They were so overjoyed with their achievement that they went around hugging people after the match.

TK PHOENIX met the same team, SMK SRI KL, in the Plate Finals(2nd tier), and lost 9-14, an exciting but tough match. SMK SRI KL had also beaten TK PHOENIX on the first day of the tournament (24th May 2008) with the score of 10-5.

Five valuable players from each team (including the Media Crew) was awarded with a small bag during the debriefing at night. They are: Chalisa (TK RAVENS), Jamie(TK THUNDERBIRDS), Lee Yi Ying(TK PHOENIX), Olivia(TK SWIFTS) and Devid(Media Crew).

Looking at the bright side, the high point of this trip was to see the juniors defeating St Margaret’s juniors and the seniors giving St Margaret’s seniors a tough fight. I am sure our netballers will work even harder and strive to win the Nationals next term.

Day 1

Accounted by TK Netball Media Crew in KL

Day 1, 23rd May, 2008.
The Netball Teams (TK Thunderbirds, TK Phoenix, TK Swifts and the TK Ravens) and the Media Crew set off for our 5 days 4 nights exciting KL trip. Our main objectives for this trip is to participate in the Cross-Straits Tournament against schools from Singapore and Malaysia and at the same time prepare ourselves for the Nationals.

The day started at 6.15a.m in the morning when we gathered in front of the general office. I felt so excited! I could tell that the others were also, because of their bright faces despite the early reporting hours.

Finally, we departed from TKPS at 7a.m and headed to the Tuas checkpoint before proceeding to Yong Peng for our breakfast. We then traveled to Malacca for lunch and by then, it was about 12.30p.m. On the stage of the restaurant, we were dancing one of the ‘Bring It On’ movie dances. It started when Maverick’s PSP was snatched by the netballers and the only way to get it back was to perform a dance and it created a join-in crowd.

Due to the limited number of seats in the coach, the Media Crew was separated from the rest of the netballers and was put in a van. During the two long hours of the journey, we entertained ourselves by taking funny photos of our ‘sleeping beauties’ especially our coach, Mr. Njoo who slept like a baby. We finally reached KL and checked into our 5-star hotel, which has great facilities. Three students shared a room, which was rather crammed.

Soon after, we went to a warehouse for our food supplies. We came out ‘armed’ with huge bags of snacks and beverages. Dinner was arranged at an Indian restaurant. The dishes served by the Indian Restaurant were all spicy. Tears were brimming in my eyes as I stuffed the spicy egg into my mouth. To my surprise, I realized that it tasted quite good! I glanced around and looked at the hungry netballers, wolfing down their food.

Anyway, we are now looking forward to our matches due tomorrow. TK NETBALLERS ALL THE BEST!!!
